About us
VisionZambia works with the Linda community in Zambia to advance educational opportunities.
Linda Community School provides for children who cannot attend local government schools for economic or social reasons. It has a higher than average population of vulnerable students including a significant number of double orphans. Under the leadership of dynamic Headteacher, Doreen Nzila, huge transformation is happening. Doreen’s vision is that the School becomes a centre of academic excellence to give these children the best possible start in life.
VisionZambia started an education campaign in 2018 to raise funds to provide senior secondary education at Linda School. Early donations enabled us to build the first secondary school block in the summer providing classrooms for Grades 10 and 11, which were formally opened in October 2018. Children who leave education at Grade 9 have little prospect of employment and face a life of poverty and all the risks that entails in a country where there is no state provision. The first Grade 10 pupils started at Linda School in the new academic year in January 2019. Gaining a Grade 12 certificate is essential for securing a job or having the opportunity to go to college. The next stage of our campaign is to provide Grade 12 classrooms for these pupils by January 2021 giving them the prospect of a brighter future.
VisionZambia also offers a scholarship programme for vulnerable pupils struggling to pay school fees.
Your support for this campaign will change these children’s lives.
Thank you.
